Sylvester Alves was elated when he received the call to join the NACTM’s Goalkeeping staff in Washington, D.C. Alves, from St. Vincent and the Grenadines is a long-time Goalkeeper Coach in the region who currently works with various keepers between Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Alves participated in the Black Friday Camp on November 27th where he worked with four goalkeepers in the region. His session focused on teaching the Goalkeepers how to win the ball in the air via cross balls and how to transition quickly from defense to offense. “I really enjoyed working with the camp and being apart of this great program. I want to thank Justin [Reid] (NACTM Camp Director) for bringing me on staff and I look forward to working with the NACTM in the future,” said Alves.
Reid mentioned, “When we decided to bring Alves on board, it was important that we focused on diversity across the Caribbean region. He is of St. Vincent and the Grenadines descent, and learned from arguably the best Goalkeeper coach in the world and former US Men’s National Team Goalkeeper Coach, Lincoln Phillips who is from Trinidad & Tobago.”
Alves will be on staff when the NACTM completes its summer camp schedule in Washington, D.C. from August 2-6, 2021.
